FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions About Tripod Turnstiles
What is a tripod turnstile?
A tripod turnstile is a waist-height turnstile with three rotating arms. After authorisation, the user manually pushes the rotor to pass through. This allows people to enter or exit one at a time in a controlled way.
What is the difference between a tripod turnstile and a speed gate?
A tripod turnstile is a compact and robust access control solution with a three-arm rotor. A speed gate usually uses glass wings or panels and is often selected for high-end office entrances with faster pedestrian flow.
Can a tripod turnstile be installed outdoors?
That depends on the model, configuration and installation location. For outdoor use, we usually recommend a sheltered installation and a suitable material finish, such as stainless steel.
Can tripod turnstiles work with RFID cards or QR codes?
Yes. Depending on the configuration, Doorsecure tripod turnstiles can be combined with RFID readers, QR code readers, barcode readers or biometric readers.
Where are tripod turnstiles commonly used?
Tripod turnstiles are commonly used in gyms, offices, construction sites, commercial buildings, leisure facilities, schools, industrial sites and staff entrances.
